Sumbul Alam joined O’Donoghue & O’Donoghue as an associate in April 2023. Ms. Alam represents and provides counsel to the firm’s union and employee benefit fund clients in a broad range of legal matters, including matters arising under the National Labor Relations Act, Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and other federal statutes and regulations.
Prior to her legal career, Ms. Alam worked as union organizer and union representative for the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees for approximately eight years, where she worked on several organizing campaigns in Maryland and around the country and represented Maryland state employees in administrative hearings and settlements.
Ms. Alam graduated magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2020 and received her B.A. from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
