Mr. McIntire has been a partner in the firm since 2002.  John graduated with honors from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1993.

Since entering the practice of law in 1993, Mr. McIntire’s practice has focused primarily on employee benefit plan administration. He serves as lead counsel to a number of national, regional, and local multiemployer benefit plans, single employer pension plans and several 501(c)(3) corporations and funds.  His practice focuses primarily on advising boards of trustees of pension, health and welfare, and 401(k) plans on compliance issues, legal developments and plan administration matters, drafting governing plan documents and participant communications, reviewing, negotiating and drafting service provider agreements, representing employee benefit plans and boards of trustees before federal courts and regulatory agencies, and collaborating with other professionals and fund office personnel on establishing and maintaining best practices policies concerning a wide range of administrative matters.  In addition, Mr. McIntire advises union leadership on employee benefit matters that arise during collective bargaining and organizing as well as the many employee benefit issues that impact their members’ lives.  Mr. McIntire also participates in complex ERISA litigation and appellate practice.

Mr. McIntire is a member of the Bars of the District of Columbia and Maryland.   In addition, he is a member of several federal court bars including the U.S. Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Sixth Circuits and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the District of Maryland.
