Mark Kunst received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in 1986 and a law degree from the Delaware Law School of Widener University in 1989. After graduating from law school he joined the general counsel’s office of the United Mine Workers Health and Retirement Funds in Washington, DC. He left the Funds in 1993 to take an associate position practicing employee benefits law with a firm in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mr. Kunst returned to Washington and joined O’Donoghue & O’Donoghue LLP as an associate in 1994. In 1995 Mr. Kunst received a Master of Laws in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center. He became a partner of O’Donoghue & O’Donoghue LLP in 1998. Mr. Kunst is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland Bars as well as the Bar of the Federal District Court of Maryland.
Since entering the practice of law, Mr. Kunst has concentrated his practice in the representation of employee benefit plans and other exempt organizations in tax, transactional and administrative matters. A particular area of focus is investment issues for these entities. He has experience in complex ERISA fiduciary litigation and representing clients in enforcement actions brought by federal agencies.
